Fingertips - A.D.D. City

"EP RELEASE"

Picture
So after much anticipation Fingertips full EP "A.D.D. City is out now!!! Over the past few months there have a been a couple of songs and videos that have come out to as prelude to the complete record but we are now super super psyched to know Claire Knight has gone and dropped this thing.

The record was co-written by myself (NineLives The Cat) and Claire (Fingertips) with final production, mixing and mastering completed by yours truly also here at The Submarine. Below is a song by song breakdown of each track as described by Fingertips herself. Enjoy this super rad EP!!!

‘Troublemaker’
“Troublemaker is a fun little IDGAF song, with a killer dancehall beat and a bratty attitude. As the first track, I wanted something strong and introductory like ‘Hey, this is Fingertips, King Bish, and I’m gonna come fuck shit up… #sorrynotsorry’. It’s also a bit of a diss track to everyone out there with archaic views on gender and ethnicity in the rap game. NineLives The Cat is an Aussie rapper living in NY and he also produced the entire EP so I really wanted his voice on here.”

‘Play Nice’
“Play nice has had about a bajillion different incarnations. Originally it was this faux gangster rap tune called “CUT” about literally cutting someone with a knife. Hah! I got over that person, toned down the hate lyrics and added a melody. Now it plays nicer.”

‘Strung Out’
“I think dirty thoughts all day after spending the night with you…” This is my sxc little slow jam and it’s all about the mindless desperation of lust and infatuation. When you know someone is bad for you but you just want more because being bad is sometimes so, so good. You know what I’m talking about. It was totally out of my comfort zone, being so vulnerable and actually singing, but it’s the most honest song I’ve ever written.”

‘No Game’
“This is my favourite track. It’s like a dating song gone wrong. I can’t have Telli from Ninjasonik with me all the time to perform it but I’ve learnt his verse now. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory, it’s about this douche dude with absolutely no game and then a batshit crazy bitch with a coke habit. I think we were both writing about real life people we’ve dated. I actually played the track to the original dude with no game when he came to a club in Sydney. He loved it, bought me a beer then sent me a text message essay and drunk dialled me later. Classic no game.”

‘A.D.D. City’
“This song was born out of pure insomnia. I’d been in NY for a couple of weeks and was overwhelmed to the point that sleeping equalled mega FOMO. It’s that quintessential “city than never sleeps” vibe. That city actually has ADD. It’s hyperactive ALL THE TIME and I LOVE IT

Krames Cast with guest

ZAP! POW! DIE!

Picture
To kick off this week over here at The Submarine I have a podcast by my good buddy Cobra Krames. He does this as a weekly for his label Gold Whistle and it's poppin off right now so I was super psyched when he asked me to turn in a mixtape off the back of my first release with these guys. Honestly since i moved to New York DJ'ing took a little bit of a back seat for me after doing it intensely around the world for 10+ years prior and focusing more on playing in live bands again. So this mixtape is pretty much a showcase of all ZAP! POW! DIE! tracks over the last 4 years or so, both official and unofficial. With Krames leading the show get your head into this dope select of tunes. Kick it!!!

WAX WITCHES -

SEROTONIN SYNDROME

Picture
Here we have the second track "Serotonin Syndrome" from our buddy Alex Walls project Wax Witches.

This is from the forth coming album "Center Of Your Universe" which I believe is just about to drop in Australia. First track released through Burger Records was the infectious summertime vibes of "Social Introvert". Now with "Serotonin Syndrome" Alex has bought us a more down tempo and psychedelic tune that alongside this upcoming full length is a new force and style not to be fvcked with. Kids got it.... Enjoy

Recorded by Alex Wall in his bedroom.
Mixed by Simon Berkfinger at Golden Retriever, Kreuzberg.
Mastered by Dan Walker at The Submarine, Brooklyn.
