Introducing Octoberqat. The New York by way of Florida rapper has just seen the release of her debut EP "SOLARTRAP".
Octoberqat has a real chill, down to earth approach. Sensual at times, lures you in, then bites. She got steez with attitude to match.
The beats are super moody, downtemp and triphop style production provided by fam Vantum Noir and Dead Tech with a feature by Blue November on the opening track "Open Let Her". Definitely a new up and comer to check out.
After much anticipation, new Brooklyn punk outfit Sunshine Gun Club officially release their first single "Fading Lights" as both a video and free download from Soundcloud for the first 100 to get their hands on. After that it's available at all the usual digital outlets, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon etc.
The Fading Lights single is a super strong and catchy punk rock nod to the 90's. Surrealist imagery combined with high energy band shots bring together a visually frenetic and updated ADD version of the styles roots. This single is part of an 8 song album that will be released toward the end of summer on cassette and digital via Burger Records subsidiary Weiner Records. Keep an eye out for all that.
As this project is my own personal puppy, all music was written, produced, mixed and mastered by me here at The Submarine. The video was shot by Johnny Siera of The Death Set and was edited also by himself and his wife Sofia Szamosi. Keep ing it all in the family!!!
More savant style left-field from Queens producer/rapper Vantum Noir.
This new Vantum track LALALAND also features a verse by Dee$y (another one of the many members putting out new sounds via Vantum's music and effort). With it's down tempo style approach this new offering welcomes you into a lazy trance with vocals winding in and out of the hypnotic on repeat sample. The music kind of reminds me of a soundtrack to a Brett Easton Ellis novel, dark with a hint of oncoming dread, and with the title aptly named, it makes sense.
