YUCK-FU feat NINELIVES THE CAT "NINJAS EVERYWHERE" NineLives The Cat.... Where do I even begin... NineLives The Cat is essentially one of my own ongoing alter egos. The title came about as the first of my club type breaks records started getting released while residing back in the UK in the mid 00s. It was a name that was a nod to my departed friend at the time as he split to the states and i continued cutting my production teeth on British soil. So over the many years due to being involved in many strange and wonderful projects NineLives The Cat eventually turned rapper after many colabs, and as the most recent scenario has just unfurled, this is probably just one more strange moment to chalk up in the long list of strange that is apparently NineLives The Cat. The video was put together by this UK/French/Spanish collective in Paris called Grand Fromage Productions who for this particular project are known as Yuck Fu.. They hit me up initially to do this one track called "Ninjas Everywhere". A cartoon type look at being invaded by ninjas which where basically what i figured to be everything devastating and annoying with your everyday mess, but everything that you also constantly want and let into your space to make yourself think you feel much better for it all. Its an odd little gangster type ala Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels take on ninjas, David Guetta and a random dog dancing routine alongside Prince William forgetting his moves. Its definitely the most pop-esque type angle that NineLives has messed with and definitely a much more playful watch then my written synopsis i dare say. Please, do get amongst it!!! THE "MOTHERFUCKIN" DEATH SETAs being one of the guitarist/vocalists in The Death Set it made sense that this EP was all written, produced and mixed here at The Submarine. For me it was an intense record to produce and mix as it was so much more a personnel mission after working so closely and touring non stop with this band. Also the previous full length being “Michel Poiccard” was executed by XXX Change from Spank Rock infamy, so there was a definite high standard to maintain. Actually working closely with Alex on the last Death Set album was an awesome inspiration and has totally led me into a much greater understanding of production and mixing. So without further hold ups please check the press release below for the full scoop on our new EP “King Babies” proudly brought to you all by The Submarine and Dim Mak About This Release Two years after the release of The Death Set's critically acclaimed album, Michel Poiccard, the Australian duo Johnny Siera and Dan Walker join forces with Dim Mak and hard-hitting drummer Will Broussard to unleash their latest offering. Always strange and ridiculously catchy, with their latest EP, King Babies, The Death Set return to their punk origins. Capturing the mayhem of their live shows, King Babies is both noisy and melodic with maximum energy. Produced and mixed by Dan Walker in his Brooklyn studio, The Submarine, King Babies is a collection of what people have grown to love from this bizarre art punk band. Opener "Lite the Fuse" is a screaming punk ode to its moombahton-inspired beat and grimy bass line. Explosive stream of consciousness lyrics break with just enough time to catch your breath before hitting the pit. Eighties-hardcore-inspired "Think Shank" follows suit with electronic builds, back and forth vocals and a half-time bridge that begs you to bounce. Voted most likely to get uncontrollably stuck in your head is the EP's anthem "Soar Away.” Paying homage to their popular tracks like "Negative Thinking," "Soar Away" is a melodic journey about conquering self-doubt. King Babies closes strong with "The Enemy," with electronic blips and a stomping beat behind lyrics that give voice to the madness of our internal dialogue. The Death Set is excited to join Dim Mak, a label that launched on hardcore seven inches and has grown into an EDM superpower -- the fit is snuggly and perfect.. Enjoy :) The EP is now out and can be found at the available links!!! iTunes Beatport Amazon The youtube teaser for the EP via Dim Mak And the first video for the song "Lite The Fuse" has also dropped.
